Who We Are
A number of years ago it became apparent that Breckenridge would be our home. We all enjoyed working in the ski industry, and decided it was time to "take the plunge" and open our own shop; Avalanche Sports.
Our experience is extensive. We have run high volume, lift side, rental operations, managed downtown full service shops, and have instructed nationally on the Ski Mechanic Workshop. The three of us have over 40 years of experience working every aspect of the ski industry.
Avalanche Sports carries the newest equipment on the market. Our rental packages are tailored to your individual needs. We provide both women's and men's specific boots, boards, and skis. Packages are targeted towards the beginner skier/snowboarder as well as the expert. Since we are a small local operation, we have no marketing department, (that's John), no accounting department, (Mark watches that), and no buying agents, (Rich goes to the shows on his free time). What that means to you is this, we have better equipment, for less.
We also have the newest styles in winter wear from Helly Hansen, Sierra Designs, and Solstice. Guaranteed to keep you warm during our long winter (And if the airlines somehow misplace your ski clothing, we rent that too.)
Our full service center is equipped with a Montana Crystal Glide Machine. Our skis and boards receive constant attention, leaving our store with a Crystal Glide Finish, every time. From ski and board tuning, mounting of bindings, to custom insoles for your boots, Avalanche Sports is the only shop you will ever need to visit.
We are conveniently located across from the main base at Peak 9, sandwiched between two other must see institutions in town, the Blue Moose Restaurant for breakfast, and the Breckenridge Brewery for dinner. We also feature a convenient, free parking lot, right out front.
What you can expect at our shop is prompt, courteous service, at a tremendous value. Provided by owners who have a vested interest in your positive ski experience. We answer the phones here (no automated systems-ever) We fit the boots, adjust the bindings, and tune the skis. The owners are always present. The three of us believe being an independent shop makes a difference, and you will too. People visit Breckenridge for the unique ski town experience it provides, Avalanche Sports will only enhance your visit to our town.
